The Ames History Museum hosted a celebration downtown on Friday evening to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary.
The event, “America 250 – Big Bash,” featured activities for all ages, including a vintage car show, local bands with dancers, food trucks and a family fun zone with yard games, a bouncy house, a trackless train ride and prize-filled booths.
Ames’ annual fireworks display, set for Friday evening, was postponed to Sunday due to heavy rain. It served as a grand finale for the celebration of the country’s semiquincentennial.
