Football: Konrardy, Becht set school records in Cyclone blowout over South Dakota

“Eff it, let’s kick it,” Iowa State head football coach Matt Campbell told placekicker Kyle Konrardy prior to his school record 63-yard field goal with five seconds remaining in the first half of Saturday’s game. The redshirt sophomore from Dubuque is one of eight Football Bowl Subdivision players ever to connect on a field goal from exactly 63 yards away.

The best season in program history came to a sudden halt Saturday night as the No. 9 Ames Little Cyclone softball team couldn’t overcome an early gust from Ankeny in a 5-1 loss in Class 5A regional action.

In a dominant display on their home turf, the Ames High Little Cyclones rolled past the Waukee Warriors 4-0 in the Class 4A Substate 3 semifinals on May 27.

Girls Soccer: Little Cyclones defeat Trojans in semifinal

Ames scored a pair of first half goals to defeat Iowa City West, 2-0, in the Class 3A Region 1 semifinal on May 28. With the win, the Little Cyclones improved to 10-5-1. The visiting Trojans finished the season at 8-7-2.
Jayden Higgins was selected by the Houston Texans in the second round, 34th overall, of the 2025 NFL Draft.
