Frank Maly, an Ames resident, has been volunteering his time to carve pumpkins for the past 10 years. Maly plans to carve pumpkins all three days volunteers are needed this year to ready for Spirits in the Gardens. Before becoming a volunteer, Maly worked at Iowa State for 35 years.
