Ames residents got their first look inside the new Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center during an open house May 30, giving the public a chance to explore the facility before its full opening.
The event allowed visitors to tour the walking track, multipurpose and party rooms, training areas and locker rooms. Guests also viewed the natatorium from the lobby and party rooms.
The center features a six-lane, 25-yard lap pool, a zero depth entry splash pool, a current channel, a wellness pool and a body slide.
Parks and Recreation Director Keith Abraham said the facility offers many opportunities for year round activity, regardless of the weather. When the center is open, visitors can use the walking track without paying admission.
