Bandshell Park was filled with residents sitting, standing and dancing to music performed by Cover That. The Friday concert was the finale of the Ames on the Half Shell summer concert series.
Cover That, a band consisting of five musicians, performed covers of songs mainly from the 1970s and on, with a few modern hits in the mix, too. Examples of songs played were “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon, “All Love Right Now” by Free and “Funky Town” by Lipps Inc.
Roughly 300 people were in attendance.
Attendees brought lawn chairs and blankets to sit and enjoy the music. Food trucks available were Carlos’ Quesadillas Mexican Food and Comfort Food. Bailing out Benji, a national non-profit organization that aims to end inhumane dog breeding, was in attendance alongside Wilson Toyota. The concert series is hosted by the Ames Jaycees.
