Led by a hat trick from Matthias Roettger, Ames High’s boys soccer team defeated Fort Dodge 5-1 on Friday.
Roettger scored three goals for the Little Cyclones, finding the net twice in the first half and completing the hat trick with 14 minutes remaining in the second half.
With three minutes left in the first half, Ames’ 2-0 lead grew with a goal by Adam Benbah. Fort Dodge got on the board in the second half when Karter Hemrick scored with 33 minutes remaining, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
The Little Cyclones had a final response as Jamison Lynch scored with one minute remaining in the match to secure the 5-1 victory.
Ames controlled much of the match on both ends of the field, maintaining pressure and limiting Fort Dodge’s opportunities.
The Dodgers move to 0-4-0, while Ames remains undefeated at 2-0-0.
